I mean i get what youre saying. I do. Both sides have its advantages and disadvantages. Im not saying I would do it 1 way or the other.
Yeah they can. Will they? Who knows. But if they are thinking its gonna be a QB sneak, they can send everyone and leave WRs unguarded. And even if they dont send 8, the offense has 5 OL in front of the QB. The D can match up with the WRs and still send 6, sending more guys than the offense can block, which leaves a LB like Willis or Bowman running around unblocked, and thats the main thing you dont want.
And you can audible to the pass if you see it. But if you line up man vs man in the spread, and on the snap send the 2 DBs guarding the inside slot guys, they would be unblocked and if the blitz is timed right they could get to the QB or cause him to go a diff route. Especially if the middle is clogged with great DL and LBs like the 49ers have.
And if you go jumbo, the 2 RBs in the back field arent causing more people to be over the center. I mean youre gonna have 2 LBs in the A gaps regardless. You dont have 4 in there. And if you split the RBs out wide, the CBs would be on them, not the LBs.
If my QB is Cam Newton, I would most likely due the jumbo set QB sneak. Most of the time he will get it. It just didnt happen. There are strengths and weaknesses in each set. There is never a perfect call. Sometimes calls work, other times they dont.
