im still a novice hunter but i know the first rule of duck hunting: go where the ducks are.

I've been hunting ducks hard for about 8 yrs now... It just seems my off days have coincided with bad weather. I know that rule it's just being in BR, there isn't many good places to go near by without a boat. I've put in the time last few years on the wax scouting but it's hard to borrow boats when other people are using them.

But I do appreciate the advice

Sounds like you need to get out of the lease and buy a small boat. Tons of options for duck hunting within 2 hrs of br if you have a 14' flat with a 25hp tiller and a pirogue. No reason you can't kill plenty of ducks with your time and resources, you just need to manage said time and resources better.

there are places available. they are scattered but the opportunities are there. it would help out immensely if you have access to even a jonboat or pirogue with a paddle.

also, don't forget this: if you don't normally public land hunt, it is not easy. you can't expect to walk into a pond in the woods and kill ducks with any consistency. sometimes they're not there & this is why scouting is such a big deal. you also have to either get up waaay earlier than the other assholes that want to hunt public, or find places that either no one knows about (very very difficult) or at least that are so much of a pain in the arse to get to that they don't want to go there (easier) or hunt on weekdays or something (much easier).

of course, if you get a small boat and outboard your opportunities increase a thousandfold, but you will never get away from The Rules.

ETA: and don't give up dude. 3 weekends to go and best reports yet this season are just showing up.
