I haven't applied for a business card recently, but if I had and hadn't been instantly approved, I would have called about 24 hours later, just like I did for every other business card.

What's changed?

It has been reported that calling in during the waiting period has led to more denials. That the reps look into "how can we deny this" instead of how to approve and grill the shite out of you, and therefore it may be better to just wait out the decision process before calling as you may turn an approval into a denial by calling.

And no shite, people have actually made chart trees showing you what odds are of approval/denial are based on what the message you receive on the initial response it. It's all worked out.

This is a departure from when calling in quickly was the thing to do. Of course you may end up OK, but it's now better to have less eyes on you.

Of course if the follow up letter denies then you call in.
