Essentially all you have to do is get though the first 3 months spending requirement then exclusively pay for certain things with certain cards and you can rack up a ton of shite.
Are you allowed to combine points from separate cards to pay for one thing? Like a super expensive flight?

Exactly. The first three months is usually to hit the big sign up bonus. And you hit a big sign up bonus across multiple cards to rack up points.

Yes. For example - you could transfer points from AmEx MR + Citi TYP to Singapore KrisFlyer for a ride on their Suites. It involves knowing partners and finding common partners between different programs. Within the same program - if you have say the Chase Freedom + Sapphire + ink - they all accrue Chase UR points, which all go in 1 bucket. Amex and Citi have similar products as well.
