My payment histories on all of my accounts are flawless. Debt/credit ratio is basically nill. It's simply that, being a relatively young guy, my accounts are fairly young, so I'm a bit cagey about things I know might ding my score. In ten years, I probably wouldn't give this a second thought. But, I've had little trouble getting approved for anything I've asked for in the last couple of years.

As for the need, there really isn't one for the Barclaycard. It's a solid card, $400 is nice, and damn it, I want a new card to play with

Points hoarding is a real illness. They are so easy to get yet you only have so much time to burn them. It takes a lot of self control. How I haven't applied for that 100k American Airlines card yet is a feat of strength.
