Bumping this... I got my platinum card...

I have a trip to nyc in 3 weeks, tell me how I can maximize this trip using the perks of the platinum card... I already booked delta, haven't booked a hotel.

Obviously I can hit up the delta lounge now, what else should/can I do? call the concierge? ask for an event guide? trying to get a feel for how really take advantage of this

Have you set up which airline you want to use for your $200 airline fee credit? You'll get a credit for $200 in luggage fees, liquor on the plane, etc. You will have to charge it on your card at first but then they take it off later from what I understand.
But you have to designate what airline you want it to be applied for.

I have the Platinum and going to NYC in April.

1. I contacted concierge and asked for an event schedule for the dates I'm going. I had a customized report in my email within 3 hours.

2. Book through Fine Hotels and Etc. It's pretty damn expensive but so is NYC. The W in Time Square rate is affordable.

3. Call AMEX and tell them you want Starwood Preferred Gold Status. They'll connect you to Starwood rep. Gold status is worth it.
