Why was this allowed? Like Mack Brown, was Cholly Mac just too stubborn to quit, or was the administration too complacent to act?
Help Mac Pac (obnoxious fan chant) lead LSU to the Dark Ages. Mac was the designer and coordinator of the Chinese Bandits and won a LOT of Football Games as head coach but because he couldn't beat Bear Bryant regularly (no one could) LSU fans hated him as much as they envied Bryant (sound familiar?) - he was pushed aside, Bo Reign died and for 20 years Tiger Nation cried.
We are 14 years into the Golden Age of LSU football and have the most accomplished coach (in game, recruiting and in life) in our illustrious history, maybe we should embrace it, lest we screw ourselves AGAIN!!
Thanks in advance.

More&Les is correct. Cholly Mac won 8 or 9 games a year ( out of 10 or 11 then). LSU had a top 10 defense every year.... Some years allowing less than 60 Yds rushing for the year avg... But couldn't beat Bama.....fans got restless...wanted change (sound familiar)......so for the next 20 yrs it was up and down...and for a period in the 90s it was waaay down. Bad coaching hires.
Even Saban at the time was a risky hire.... Not much of a track record, but he worked out.... The others didn't.
