Gaming and ill prob put a few movies on it my Mac had 6 movies on it and it bogged down my memory.

12GB of RAM would be plenty and more than enough.

I think 12GB is standard on all Alienware laptops, don't upgrade it, save yourself the $.

As long as you aren't trying to watch the movies while gaming, it shouldnt make a difference

As long as you aren't putting this on a credit card and this isn't like a super major purchase (i.e., you make a lot of money), go for it. People are going to tell you that you're overpaying (and you are, by a lot), but you'll be getting a good product with a lot of power. The video cards will be outdated long before you'll ever even remotely use even half of that RAM, but those laptops at least have upgradeable GPUs -- so you'll be able to spend $1,000 later on for new GPUs rather than have to buy another $3,000 laptop. But if money is a factor, you are spending too much.
