Made 9 hunts since Saturday and only saw one 4 point which I couldn't shoot and a pig that I shot but couldn't find. I sitting in box stands over food plots for every hunt. Not the same stand for every hunt but not 9 different stand, I mixed it up a little. We hunt about 900 acres in Central Alabama mostly pine and hardwood some have been clear cut and some of the pines are only a few years old and some around us off our least are being cut now.

Years past we usually see deer every hunt, last year at this time we probably already had at least 10 does and maybe a buck or 2. We ended the year Jan 31 last year with about 25 deer. So far this year we only have 3 or 4.

My question is, is it me? Should I try something different? Is anyone else having a slow year around East MS/West Central Al?

I'm kinda frustrated but not too bad bc I know I still have another month, but I dont wanna go and spend another 5-6 days up there and not even see anything.

If you cant enjoy 5 or 6 days out at the camp in the woods then yes, you are doing something wrong

Do something different. Scout for trails and rublines, figure out what they're eating when they're not on the foodplot. Sloooowly stillhunt in a wooded area. Sit in a blown over tree for a while, Sit by a creek. Put a climber in one of the spots you find.

Where. I saw a lot of deer last week but none the past two days. These fronts have them messed up. They are just now starting to chase in Shelby, so this weekend should be good.

Two thoughts:

You are hunting where the deer are at 2 a.m. You need to hunt where they are in the daytime.

That's a lot of deer off of 900 acres. You might have thinned your herd too much and really educated the ones you have left.

go look there, you probably won't be able to take more than 5 steps without stepping in deer droppings. Next, figure out how you gonna kill them.
