Passed by there a few times on the way to Denali and Fairbanks, but we never stopped off the highway. Maybe I'll get that chance with a return trip to Alaska in the future. I have some unfinished fishing business to take care of.

That's not too far from Soldotna. If I ever get a chance to visit my cousin up there, I'll have to check it out.

Talkeetna is on a spur road, but the Ak. Railroad stops there. Even by Ak. standards it's a very unique small town.

Town full of trappers, miners, mountain climbers, folk musicians. Definitely one of the fewonly places still left like it. The rail stop has made it tourist mess in summer though

Also, some great fishing in the area and it's the "jumping off point" for Mt. McKinley.
