Make sure to work hard because if you're ever successful in bringing socialism to the U.S. I'm going to immediately retire and live off the masses.

its so obvious too.

Goes on about socialism and marxism, then talks about how great it is that PR is trashed for people thinking he is bigoted against gays... when Russia has some of the worst laws for homosexuals in the civilized world.

its mind boggling how the two concepts are even connected

What is your personal number of people to be re-educated byway of concentration camps or a bullet out of our present 300 million population to be acceptable to you? How would it work out for you if you were re-educated in the same manner as Robespierre during the grand days of the French revolution?

re: Phil Robertson and Duck Dynasty Part of Majority White Supremacist Culture

It's because the Jews got so exasperated upon hearing the first 10 that they begged Moses to stop calling them out, so he just wrote down the rest in the end of Exodus and the following 3 books of the bible known as the Pentateuch, the 5 books of Moses that are attributed to have been written by him.

Many Protestant denominations believe in the "all sins are equal in God's eyes", but Catholics do not. Catholics believe sins are weighed differently with two different levels of sin (think felonies verses misdemeanors) with Cardinal and Venial sins. Both require reconciliation and atonement in order to be forgiven, however Venial sins will not send you to hell, only purgatory, where you will pray and atone until those sins are forgiven and you are allowed into heaven. Those with unforgiven cardinal sins (like murdering people, robbing a bank, or cheating on your wife) go to Hell. However, no matter what you do, if you are sincerely and genuinely sorry and willing to confess and atone for your sins, God is always willing to forgive them as long as you are still alive. After death, venial sins can still be atoned for, but cardinal sins cannot.

You would have to ask a priest or consult the catechism for a list of cardinal sins as I do not know all of them off hand, but generally, they are violating the 10 Commandments.

Also, many of the other sins in the later books of the Bible (or later in Exodus) that are not listed directly in the 10 Commandments are often extensions of a commandment. For example, the sin of manslaughter often falls under "thou shalt not commit murder" if the negligence that lead to the death was great enough.

There are many subtleties to sin in the Catholic Church that can be confusing and even seem hypocritical to outsiders, that's why many Protestant denominations went ahead and adopted the "all sins are equal in the eyes of God" philosophy so as to eliminate the grey areas. It's like a zero tolerance policy for fighting in school.

Ralph Wiggum is not a fake poster, he's a true believer who is consistent in all of his posts. He has been here a long time and I respect him for his opinions because he is honest and upfront about them rather than doing (like most of the American left) lying about his goals and trying to trick people into socialism. This board is richer for having him here and I enjoy conversing with him when I have the opportunity. It's interesting getting such a completely polar opposite view and hearing how he comes to those views. I find learning how people with differing political views come to hold those views fascinating and enlightening.

Intellectually honest differing views like Ralph's should be appreciated in debate, not shunned like we would an obvious hack like some of the other liberal (and many "conservative") posters on this forum. I respect Ralph and you should do the same...or don't, it's a free country.

Ralph, what led you to become a socialist? Was it based on teachings at a young age? Was it based on learning from your parents? Observation of the present world? Reading the history of civilization? Was it due to the philosophical works of a particular writer or figure? I would love to be able to understand your views better.

I have a serious question.

Where does the Catholic belief of Purgatory come from? I like the idea that such a place exists for those who commit minor sins to repent..especially in cases of sudden death where an individual may not have yet been forgiven for recent wrongdoings.

I just don't recall any mention of a purgatory in the Bible.

I'm pretty sure they just made it up to answer the really difficult questions of "what if I just sin a little? If I was jealous of my neighbor Marsha getting a pony for Christmas and then die before I can repent, will I be sent to Hell to burn with all of the pedarapist serial killers? Marsha! Marsha! Marsha!". I'm fairly certain that there is no mention of purgatory in the bible at all. It's a part of Catholic dogma that even many priests question due to its lack of liturgical basis.

Right. This is liberal SOP. Let's take a family, that has built a multi million dollar business literally from their living room, and demonize them for having a solid family unit and being successful.

This reason is why I hate liberals right now. You people are demonizing success.

I think they take the story of paradise, which was an abode for the believers before the resurrection, and misinterpret that into some permanent place. But Jesus led those souls out of there and it is now empty.

it came from observing the world and realizing that Marxism gives a pretty good history of the contemporary world and how we got to where we are today. I read a lot by Noam Chomsky and David Harvey who are marxists writers and critics of the curren world capitalist economy. I also read some Immanuel Wallterstein.

Plus I found that socialism is more consistent with creating a just society. That is the brief synopsis.

re: Phil Robertson and Duck Dynasty Part of Majority White Supremacist Culture

I believe the goals of socialism, a place where everyone works for the common good, where no one is discriminated against, where every one has all of the food they need, healthcare, education, ect is a laudable goal. Unfortunately, I have also studied the effects of socialism on the psyche of the individual worker. When everyone is equal, there is simply no incentive to work. If you work harder, you get the same as someone who doesn't produce at all. Because scarcity is a reality of life, a people who as a whole are not motivated to reduce scarcity in any way (because they cannot profit directly from doing so) scarcity grows. Governments have to allocate resources evenly in order to avoid discriminating, but if there's not enough resources to go around, how can they allocate? There are only two ways in a Marxist society, demand more be produced (often at the expense of quality) or ration resources. This is where the Marxist economic system starts to break down. The government is not great at anticipating demand for goods. The only way to increase production of those goods is to mandate it. However, if those mandates are beyond the production capacity of the country, it won't be produced. It's like trying to squeeze blood from a stone. They either lie about how much they produce, or produce more at greatly reduced quantity by watering it down.

There is an old joke about two cold war spies that died and went to hell. Each spy (one from America and one from Russia) are offered the choice to go to Soviet Hell or American Hell. In Soviet Hell, you have to eat 5 buckets of shite per day. In American Hell, you only have to eat 1. The Russian spy picks Soviet hell and the American picks American hell. A few weeks later, the American spy notices that the Russian never seems to be eating any shite and asks why that is. The Russian spy responded saying, "This is Soviet Hell: First they run out of shit, then they run out of buckets."

It leads to the old Soviet adage of "We pretend to work, they pretend to pay us."

Capitalism is a flawed system, especially the crony capitalism/corporatism here in the U.S. However, pure, unbridled capitalism is the best system for resource allocation yet invented do to the profit incentive for workers not only to produce goods, but also to innovate ways to produce more goods, cheaper goods, and goods and services that no one has ever even known they wanted because they can profit for such endeavors. Working hard can be rewarded. Resources are allocated efficiently to those who can afford them, incentivizing increased production by suppliers and increased effort by consumers so they can afford those goods. That's my 2 cents at least.
