.243 ammo is much easier to find for one. My daughters each have one and they have dispatched every deer they've ever shot with them. Too many people masturbate over ballistics and shite. I've never shot a deer over a hundred yards. Neither have they so I'll stick with the .243 for them and know I can find ammo anywhere. Not to mention I have a stockpile of that shite. I try to stick with common calibers for that reason. My wife shoots a .270WSM and let herself run out of ammo. We couldn't find that shite anywhere for awhile and every place we tried to order on line was on back order. Not to mention how much more expensive these "off" caliber rounds cost.

243 is a great gun especially for a kid.
