Does the college football world consider them to be powerhouses now? I just heard both of their names brought up on a local sports radio show when talking about current powerhouses. What do you feel the criteria is for being a powerhouse?

I don't consider either a powerhouse.

Not sure what the criteria for being a powerhouse is but I know if we aren't(which we aren't)then they sure aren't.

Neither are Powerhouses.
Oklahoma State is a regular top 25 team now so they are close to being a powerhouse I guess?
Baylor hasn't done shite.
A powerhouse team should be a team that is constantly in the top 10

OSU and Baylor aren't on the same level.
Neither are a powerhouse.

Powerhouses have hardware, have longevity, have a physical brand of ball(modus operandi), they bring in waves of big bad talent that has mauled and maimed even as the names have changed on the back of the jerseys.
OSU and Baylor are New Age Big-12-ish, Spread, lightly gadget-esque, mainly rely on speed-in-space isolation,etc..neither with hardware nor longevity..they may beat you..they may leave you winded..they don't appear to leave teams all physically busted up.

Neither are powerhouse programs. But, they are programs on the upswing.

Powerhouses are those who have been consistently great over the entire history of college football.

Probably not.
Baylor is noveau riche and unproven against legit competition.
Okie St has been consistently good, but doesn't have a signature win.

Powerhouse....NO. To be considered a powerhouse I would think a team would need multiple top 10 finishes over a period of time. Both are good programs, but Baylor's new found success is too early to be considered a powerhouse. OSU is close but no there yet.

I don't consider a team with one top 10 finish in the last 25 years (Oklahoma State) and a team that hasn't had a top 10 finish since 1951 to be powerhouses. Sorry, but my standards are higher than that.

Oklahoma State is legit. They've been decent for five or six years now.

They aren't power houses but they both have very good coaches.
Need at least an NC to be a legit power house.

No. I don't consider South Carolina or Clemson to be powerhouse programs and both are above OkState and Baylor.

I guess you could be a powerhouse for just a year right? A team could be "the powerhouse" team in 2014 I guess. That said I don't think either is there yet, although Oklahoma State might be getting closer.
