For all we know Texas people were telling Saban that Mack would go quietly without knowing if that was the case. When Mack told them they'd have to fire him and this all went public Saban changed his mind. I would too.

Sure you can say Mack has underachieved the last few years but he is still is one of only two coaches to get them a national title and he still won more games than anyone other than Royal at Texas.

Even if you think he should move on, you don't fire him weeks ahead of time via media leaks and already essentially name his replacement before you have actually talked to him or secured the new coach. I mean shite. Saban surely reasoned if they would treat Mack this way, how would they treat him if he wasn't an instant success?

Any big name, established HC will be foolish to walk into the train wreck at Texas. And they have no one to blame but themselves.
