In line with the other "old recuitnik" asking for an update, can some of you recruiting-know-it-alls also give an update on how are overall #'s look this year. How many spots are still open, projected as taken, held for top guys, etc. etc. Is there any danger missing out on some of these BIG TIME guys due to worrying about #'s?

I seem to remember the NCAA enacting some new rules a year or 2 ago related to gray-shirting, but I don't know how it all works and how many we can really sign. Or how much room we have this year based on the total 85? I guess that also depends on how many JR's leave, correct?

I really appreciate the info provided here for us who are less in the know.

In the past, one of the most informative posts I have seen here was one where some recruitnik would keep these #'s posted. TOTAL # of recruits we could take, and # committed versus wants & needs per position.

The max number is dependent on the interpretation and implementation of the rules in the SEC. A conservative interpretation that I think is correct is 25. The liberal interpretation would put the max at 27.

I have seen some of the projections of 27, but the actual recruits on the board don't add up to that for me, so I am sticking with 25 for now.
