Whatever happened to midnight movies?

Theatres used to show them on the weekends. Would have a full lineup of oddball movies.

Not sure where you live, but I frequently go see midnight movies in New Orleans and Austin every now and then.

Only the lesser "local" places did this when I was younger. The movies near lakeside on vets would show crazy movies late at night, and Rocky Horror some nights too.

Movie Pitchers would show all kinds of messed up stuff, but they closed down.
