So far, you have Cowherd, Herbstreit, Roussel (and apparently his brother) and Finebaum all saying that he either stays or that it has not been decided.
On the other end, you have a tweet from a Ft. Worth TCU writer saying it is done..Saban to UT...then he back tracks.
You have some yet to be verified housing information on Saban in Austin.
And you have some odd flights to and from.
And you have a poster on here that no one knows called "The Doc" that speaks with great assurance that Saban is gone.
Saban ain't going anywhere. This may be the biggest message board driven "story" in sports history (outside of Camgate).

A master never gives up his secrets.
But a book on his career and his point of view on some of the more notorious negotiations would be nice.

Would definitely watch a 30 for 30 on Sexton. Big name clients who are always at the top of the pay scale.

True...though a 30 For 30 or Moneyball style book and movie would truly be amazing.

Bingo! How nice would it be to have a job where you could spew complete bullshite and never have to be correct or accountable.

Tell me where this breaks down:
1. Mack Brown liked his job and didn't want to leave.
2. Mack Brown is leaving his job.
3. Therefore, Mack Brown was forced out.
4. Texas wouldn't force out Mack Brown unless they had a plan in place.
5. Texas has the money for a homerun hire and their plan wouldn't have happened WITHOUT a homerun already planned.
6. Nick Saban is available, and the most obvious homerun.
Sorry, Mr. Roussel... I just don't see how you can judge the opposite as "likely" unless you're inside Nick Saban's head.

cowherd doesnt know shite. Herbstreit - see les miles, finebaum- has bamas dick in his mouth, and roussel- based his argument on sabans comments

What's interesting is that he's supposed to be on a recruiting trip during this whole thing. Now how is he going to be a successful recruiter if rumors are flying around about him leaving for Texas?
He ain't going nowhere. He's just trying to milk this situation for all its worth so he can squeeze more money from Bama. More power to him. I hope they fall on their knees from the pain.

Yes. Nick Saban's ego is almost as big as mine, and that ego demands he abandon a place that no longer takes joy in winning in favor of one that does.

Nice analysis. At this point, even Bama people should concede that Nick is at least making them think he will leave, if nothing else to extract Bama's final, walk away monetary offer. He can feel appreciated and go back to work saying, "See? I told ya'll I wasn't going anywhere."
But to pretend this discussion isn't happening, and that if enough money stacks up on the Texas side of the teeter totter, that he won't jump ship (I don't really understand money or metaphors)?
That's self/collective delusion or naivete - take your pick.

Perhaps the only time I will agree with Rex but he is spot on. No way Texas throws Mack under the bus like this unless they have a coach already hired.
But Nick could be playing Texas for more money to stay in Bama. Either way, Bama gonna pay!

good time to put the Saban to Texas rumors to bed

His reasoning was centered around statements from Nick and Terry about not leaving.

He is on recruiting trips. However, if you buy into the narrative that Saban is milking Alabama for more money, obviously the fact that he is on recruiting trips doesn't prevent him from seriously playing the University of Alabama.
It doesn't matter where Nick is or what other thing he is doing. He is clearly in serious negotiations with Alabama, Texas or (likely) both. The silence from all three parties (leaks and source attributed comments don't count) mean that the issues are not settled. That's really all we know for sure.
If whatever the outcome was already a foregone conclusion, we wouldn't have any of this prolonged drama.

So, at worst parents of recruits should realize that Saban isn't willing to shoot down rumors publicly in an effort to bring in more money. That'd worry me when a coach is telling my son and me about honoring his commitments, even if he does stay.
Posted on 12/11/13 at 1:33 pm to LeClerc
Not just out recruiting, but PERSONALLY visiting every top commit and big time prospect left on the Bama board. He even gave Hootie Jones' mother his personal cell # and the assurance that he would be up and in his morning classes (apparently the kid likes to sleep in).
Recruiting is Saban's lifeblood and he's not an idiot. The negative tactics used against him after lying to these kids would be off the charts.

I agree the situation is fluid. I just don't think he's going anywhere. It's all about the money. He says it's not but it is.

and Finebaum who said Saban has yet to sign a contract extension from Bama even though its been on his desk for 6 days now and Bama officials are getting nervous
