Not just out recruiting, but PERSONALLY visiting every top commit and big time prospect left on the Bama board. He even gave Hootie Jones' mother his personal cell # and the assurance that he would be up and in his morning classes (apparently the kid likes to sleep in).

Recruiting is Saban's lifeblood and he's not an idiot. The negative tactics used against him after lying to these kids would be off the charts.

Saban also isn't stupid. He's doing this because whether he stays at Bama or not, this is the last chance he'll have to recruit before:

1) the team starts practicing for its bowls
2) the no-contact time frame with recruits begins

In the end, only Saban and his family know what is going on, but if he wasn't leaving, he'd have signed his extension already unless he is continuing to extort money out of Bama, which as a parent would really tip me off to the kind of person he is. He's extorting with the threat of leaving while in the same breath telling kids like he did to Sentimore how he should honor his commitments.

Saban is playing the guessing game less for money than he is to make crazy gumps cringe in fear and suffer anxiety. All of the gump nation that busted his balls and bad mouthed him after the AU game are now sweating bullets panicking....set to throw their childrens' tire swings through their neighbors single wide bay window.

In my dream scenario, Texas pays Mack Brown a shite ton of money to step down. Saban leaves Alabama to take the Texas job. Gump fans tear down his statue. Texas fans celebrate in the street.

On his first day on the job at Texas, Nick Saban drops dead of a heart attack. Mack Brown counts his money.

The devil has a new friend in hell.

It's incredibly sad that I find this incredibly entertaining - I also had similar thoughts earlier this week.

at self.

It's both bidness and personal.

Even if he stays, the Saban brand is dinged. The gumps will never think of him the same way, and he'll be ever more annoyed at their antics. Nothing will ever be the same in T Town.

Sorry, Mr. Roussel... I just don't see how you can judge the opposite as "likely" unless you're inside Nick Saban's head.

It's a wild arse guess. You cannot predict what Nick Saban will do. It's been proven in the past, what he says or what seems like he should do means nothing. Actions is the only thing you can read and even that can be deceiving.

Because he and his representation are smart enough to use leverage to get as much money as possible out of Alabama.

Bama probably doesn't know much more than we do about what Nick or his agent are thinking.

Nick and his agent know exactly what their intentions are and therefore are using that knowledge to their advantage.

I cannot fathom how that is such a hard concept to grasp.

If anything, the longer this goes without Nick officially announcing the Texas, the more likely he is to return to Bama. The elapsing of time without commitment to UT actually may diminish his leverage to one extent or another with Bama.

Nick Saban is a god in Alabama. If he stays, I would argue it will only further enhance their hillbilly love for the man.

I agree with that actually. Aside from your stereotyping of our fans.

If another program offered you the moon, and you still stayed that would endear any coach to any fanbase.

The holdup is Brown wants a job like Darryl Royal had when he gave up coaching, Asst to the President, a job where he could still be involved. Saban wants Brown out of the picture completely. That job is a meddling one and Saban won't come if they put Brown in it.

I worked with Roussel at Memphis. That guy failed at being a football coach and then made up his own website to pretend he was an insider.

He doesn't know his arse from a hole the ground, much less if Nick Saban is or is not going to Texas.

I am simply amazed at the sources people consider. I laughed so hard when he started that site and yet here he is on Tim fricking Brando and being quoted around the internet.

He might leave but if he says he's staying, no one would believe him. He did say earlier that he's not going anywhere because he's too old though.
