We just drove an hour to bass pro and they won't let us buy the gun because we told them it was a Christmas gift. Wtf?

My brother is trying to buy his gf of five years a sub 9mm. What should he do?

UPDATE: We had no other choice but Bass Pro because we were using a gift card. However, the OB came through. I used the legal information posted and requested a manager. After talking to about 4 different people wand explaining our situation, we finally got to speak to a manager that know what the hell he was talking about. After two hours, we finally have the gun and are headed home. Thanks OB!

TLDR: Buying a gun as a gift to your gal is completely legal.

Go back and reference 11.A

Get the manager involved. I would raise hell.

In the future, don't say anything about gifts.

First mistake

They asked you if it was a gift?

What should he do?

Go somewhere else. Screw Bass Pro.

Go to a local place and support them. Gifting firearms is legal. Screw bass pro.

You voluntarily stated it was a gift? Go to Academy, pick the one you want, fill out paperwork, keep your mouth shut. It's not that difficult unless you just HAVE to tell someone it's a gift. The store has no way of knowing if the person you're giving it to is a felon. If that person is a felon, then it would be a straw purchase.

You ever tried selling a bow? I can't find any store to buy it back. Brand new & never even been shot.
