Need information on finding Shotgun chokes

I purchased my shotgun (typical friend of a friend situation) and it had a choke with it. After taking it hunting a few times, and not hitting anything, I looked to see what type of choke was it was. It has an extended tube Full Turkey choke.
I live in Lake Arthur (Jeff Davis Parrish) and have checked out Academy and Dick's sporting...but neither carry a Mossberg Modified extended tube (non-Turkey) choke. Does anyone have any advice, or other places I could check. I'll be looking at Lafayette Shooters on Saturday.

It doesn't need to be an extended tube to work. You should have no problem finding a standard modified choke

Just remember you can find anything VIA the Google!

Not hitting anything....... you sure it isn't just your shooting skills. FYI if your shooting skills aren't up to scale then no business having a extended range choke. Basic Modified choke is what you're looking for. Good luck

I've been living under the assumption full choke meant it would pattern tighter at longer ranges, and that was a good thing.

Yep, just not sure why the choke would be causing the OP to flat out miss.

Try shooting a teal or wood duck whizzing and darting around you at 15-20 yds and hitting it with a full choke. And if you hit, god help what remains.

Depending on his shooting distance improved might be a better choice...

Yeah, it depends on birdtoo, but for dove/duck I generally stick to improve or modified. Everyone has their own preference though.

Makes sense, I really didn't know.

I have had good luck w Carlson chokes – they have a deal where you get 3 chokes - a improved cylinder, modified and a light full (not quite full) for $99. Cabelas, BP etc typically have this deal – they are all extended so they r easy to change. Those three chokes are pretty much all you will need for dove, upland and duck

The full turkey choke has very little spread and no room for error...which is the reason I am trying to find a new choke.

get a modified choke
but get some skeet and burn some powder
it is more important to point that thing in the right direction than screw around with chokes
get a red ryder and knock the sights off of it and just point shot at cans, then start shooting clays (or tweeties) with the shotgun

I saw a lot of shotgun chokes around Pecan Island last weekend. The birds were flying and most of the guys with the shotguns totally choked.
