Moonrise is far and away my least favorite of his movies
Those kid actors are just so stiff and terrible, and it's not really very funny either. The Jason Schwartzman scenes are really the only belly laughs I get the whole movie.
To compare it to Rushmore or Royal T's is a travesty, IMO

the fact that they're so overly serious in such a crazy situation is part of the humor.

Acting is sort of an afterthought in WA films. They're more about setting, details, and dialogue that catches you off guard. The children were fine.
