Could end up playing Texas in Cotton.

But they first have to keep from laying an egg against Arkansas.

LSU won't be going to the Cotton if Missouri loses in the SEC championship. Just like A&M last year, Missouri, being an ex-Big 12 school, would be the perfect fit for the Cotton against Baylor.

Now, it comes down to what happens between Auburn/Bama. Bama wins they play in NC. Bama loses, then Auburn Sugar and Bama at large. Making LSU Capitol One. If they throw Auburn in the Capitol One because they lost to Bama then I could see LSU playing in either the Outback or Gator. Cotton and Chic Fil-a seem unlikely at this point.

as for the cotton, i would say what happens with texas could have some bearing on a&m if they beat mizzou. possible ut/aggie cotton bowl matchup.

Baylor losing yesterday pretty much puts them in the Cotton Bowl now.

Texas is more likely to play in the Alamo or Holiday Bowl

Missouri to the Sugar
Auburn to Orange Bowl
South Carolina to the Outback
LSU to the Cotton
Bama to the Cap One
A & M to the Chicken Bowl
Georgia to the Gator
Ole Miss to Music City
Vanderbilt to the Liberty
Compass and Indy get no SEC team this year.

If AU beats Bama they have a real shot at the NC game. I think MSU beats OSU in the big 10 title game.

South Carolina is almost a LOCK for the outback.

The Gator is possible against Michigan most likely.

Baylor still has TCU and Texas to play. Based on their performance last night, they're certainly not a lock for a BCS bowl.

That's a distinct possibility. Spartans will be the first team of that caliber the Buckeyes will have faced all year.

So AU beats Bama and then losses to Mizzou????

Wow. Mizzou still has to beat A & M.

Unless it boils down to an A&M vs. Texas scenario, LSU will get the better bowl.

Why is that far-fetched? AU will have a huge emotional letdown if they beat Bama.

*edit: Actually, I change that. If Mizz beats Auburn, then Orange will go with a 1 loss Bama, even though they lost to the Western champ AU.

It's the Outback Bowl now. Unfortunately, the Owners of Outback Steakhouse are very committed to the SEC East for some strange reason. I doubt they ever pick a western team unless they run out of qualified eastern teams which is a possible this year given the Gators situation where they are not bowl eligible.

I agree that it would be an excellent bowl for LSU. Great location and Tampa stadium is by far the best outdoor facility that I've ever been in.

The SEC HQ does not represent the 14 institutions equally.

Figure out what is...1) most beneficial to the state of Alabama; and 2) what makes the most money...and you'll figure out how the bowl picture lines up.

Wait until next year when the sixth best team in the SEC gets stuck in Birmingham. I can't even believe there's a bowl there but to be a top 15 team and have to play there is just wrong. Thanks again to the Gumps in Gumpville!

No.

But when the stadium is a piece of crap in the sketchiest part of town, I'm sure as hell liable to NOT go to the bowl because of the stadium.

but Cotton usually takes the top non BCS team from the west.
