Does anyone think it's worth it to get the CAPM, offered by PMI? I'm early in my career and have been working on an IT/IS project team for the past 2+ years. I eventually want to get into IT project management (within the next 5 years or so).

It's not going to hurt. I thought it was helpful to get comfortable with the testing format for the PMP.

I wouldn't expect it to make a huge difference in hiring/$$$$.... but it won't hurt.

Thanks. I may take it, I'm not really sure yet. I already have a decent amount of PM knowledge from working on this project, as well as taking classes in my graduate program(6 credits shy of graduating) that focus on PM. I was really wondering if it would help when I attempt to move into a PM position in about 4 years.

My apologies for the hijack

For those of you who are currently in IT PM, what job/role were you in before moving into PM?
