In the South, it usually takes 10-15 yrs for banana trees to 'fruit'. Usually they're smaller than normal and a little bitter. Just take a machete,cut'em off about 6in from the ground and wait. They're really not that difficult to manage. Landscaped about about 15yrs...I know

don't know about that...I once poured a gallon of Muriatic Acid on a Banana tree I cut down that kept sprouting up...zip, none, nada, no effect at all...even bored 10-15 1" holes 18" deep in to it before pouring the acid...
