I usually make one about once a week regardless of season.

Pretty standard recipe except that I use Jack Daniels rather than traditional bourbon and I over pour the JD.

-Teaspoon of sugar at bottom of low ball glass
-three dashes of bitter and swirl the glass to dissolve sugar
-add peel of orange and a single cherry
-add ice
- three parts whiskey
- one part soda water
-stir

pretty fricking on point right here. my method:

- 2 sugar cubes in the bottom of a low ball glass
- add 3-4 dashes Angostura bitters, spalsh of soda + an orange peel and muddle until all sugar is dissolved, discard orange peel
- fill with ice
- 2.5 parts rye whiskey + 1 part soda
- add 1 Maraschino cherry, an orange slice and a tiny splash of the cherry juice
- stir
