So this is driven by just 2A/3A championships? So Catholic doesn't get to get beat by West Monroe because of butthurt in another classification? That seems odd.

So there is a "select" 5A classification that has basically 12 teams and they all make the playoffs.

Even though they don't win state that often, the schools in this group make up about half of the top 20 schools in 5A.
The thing that messes it up is that because they get pulled from the 5A playoffs, 5A now has some 3-7 garbage teams making the playoffs. The top 4-5 seeds have glorified byes. It isn't like a few years ago when St. Paul's and Dutchtown lost in the first round of the playoffs.
