Its not exactly going hunting and picking which trophy buck out of 30 in a food plot you wanna shoot..

Some people think there is no sport in it. I think there are variables involved: how big is the property, is it bow hunt only, are there feeders and do you hunt them?

If its +1000 acres, you bow hunt only, you only feed during offseason and plant food plot or you don't hunt the immediate area of the food source, its a majority mature timber, then it is still hard to kill some of the wily bucks. Any of those variables taken out, I start to respect the process less.

Kinda. You can control the quality of deer, diet, and age. There is also the added ease of hunting an animal you know is withing a certain fenced area.

Before I answer: Your name put up a mental image of Stalin and Kruschev on reds(speed a long time ago) fishing successfully down in the marsh.

To me high fences are a love 'em hate 'em thing to most people. I have a friend that owns one. I have hunted with him and it is not near as easy as it sounds. His deer are as wild as any i have hunted in Madison Parish. He has not introduced any "genetically enhanced" stock so there are no monsters on his place, but with proper management he is seeing 1 nice 12 pt that will probably score in the 140-150 range. Where there are good genetics and good management you can have great racks without worrying about the neighbor shooting the deer after you let him walk. He can enjoy the place with his grandkids without dealing with some ignorant arse spoiling his hunt.
The thing I don't like about fences is when folks introduce all types of freaky genes into the herds. To me these are artificial and there should be no fence-high fence type ratings as far as records go. The Los Cozadores Contest in the Golden Triangle in South Tex. has such categories. I think a 150 deer killed in the wild in NELa means a hell of a lot more than a 200 killed on a 1000 acre fenced place.
