in practical terms how is this a good thing? honest question, what can you do now that you couldn't before? don't you still have to have a cable subscription to ESPN?

You will now be able to watch ESPN3 content on the Roku. As far as the subscription, I'm not sure if a cable sub is the minimum or if just an internet sub will suffice.

If you only have an internet subscription you're limited to ESPN 3 content only. Have to have cable to access the other channels.

The reason why I'm so excited about this (and others in my situation, I'm sure) is because of how my cable/dish setup is done. I have one receiver downstairs on my "main" tv. That's where I go to watch stuff if people are over. Instead of paying $10 per month per receiver to be hooked up in my office and bedroom I installed Roku boxes. I spend 90% of my time at home in my office or my bedroom, so if I want to watch sports while gaming on my computer I have to set up a stream on my second monitor.

This may not seem like a big deal, but between video game noise, talking to friends on voice chats for games, and sports all coming in through my headphones the sound gets a little crazy sometimes. It will be very nice to be able to stream sports all through my tv, in any room, and not just limit myself to the computer (I don't have a laptop at home).
