You said yourself earlier in the thread that this will bring back the nonexistent mid-range jumper. After watching this game, it seems as though every team should be driving the ball to the basket, initiating contact and getting to the line, thereby eliminating the mid-range jumper all together.

I see what the ncaa is trying to do, the hand checking slowed the game down. The ncaa is trying to get the flow of the game back.
It is going to be ugly and in some instances it will be overused, such as some calls today. But overall a better product will be seen on the court due to the rule changes.

b) There will be much more transition in the game, resulting in the need for a mid-range jumper. There was a drive late in the game when (I think) Stringer was speeding down the court on a 2-on-1 with (I think) Hickey alongside him. Alongside him! No! Bad! These players aren't taught much about transition situations anymore because they've been so much less common in the game recently than when I was a kid. On a 2-on-1, it's best to trail slightly, so if the dribbler is defended well, the trailing player is automatically open for a mid-range jumper 10 feet behind.
