To me, our players failed the coaching staff.

How does out fullback fumble on the 1-yard line against the #1 team in the nation?

How does our veteran O-line never show up for the Bama game and let Mettenberger get sacked four times?

I felt our gameplan going into the game was pretty decent and our players were prepared. They just made stupid shitty mistakes that cost us the game. We should have been up 14-0 in the first quarter. Our defense should not have given up in the second half.

Coming from a guy who hasn't really supported Miles all the way through, I don't totally blame him for this loss.

Coach is ultimately responsible for the performance of the players.

It was miles genius idea to give the ball to the fullback from 5 yards out. Prob the only coach in America who would do that.

Blame the coach for not preparing well enough.

Then I wonder why in any big game where our talent is comparable to our opponent, that you can almost figure before the game even begins that the team that will have errors at the most critical times will be LSU. The team who commits personal fouls, and have mental lapses on critical plays will be LSU. It's almost a given.

I actually felt bad for Miles in the first half. He had a good plan was doing to Bama whatever he wanted then those disasters, you need luck too and Bama has had more than their share of it.

Who called the play to give it to a fullback coming off of a concussion when we had a RB running well on the drive?

Giving it to Copeland in the 1st place is a mistake when you have a horse like Jeremy Hill on your team. Hill will be picked in the first 3 rounds of the NFL draft and play on Sundays. Copeland might make a team and bounce around the league a while, but he has no running skills other than straight ahead steamrolling people. So yes, that in itself was a critical coaching error.

The defense was awful. No rush. Can't come close to stopping the run. LB's nonexistent. DB's vulnerable due to lack of rush. They have been exposed.

I see A&M hanging 50 on us with this defense.

it was stupid to go for it on 4th & 13. miles should have took the 3 points. you still had 9 min left. if it were 4th & 4,5 I can see going for it, but not 13. miles again sitting somebody because of a fumble is dumb. make him run sprints or carry a football all week through class. don't take him out for a fumble.

JC's is your best blocking fullback. You throw him a bone a couple times a game and this time he drops it. You bench your best blocker for fumbling WTF!!!!! Did you see the missed blocks by Neighbors!!! Miles is a moron!!! And I guess he is saving Hill for the NFL!!!! Let's not forget Chaves and his defense. Chaves needs calling out, they are horrible, Jalin Mills looks like Hookfin reincarnated lmao!!!! Yea the coaches are responsible!!!!

I think we needed to throw it more. The defense was what it had been all year. The running game looked good the first couple of drives, but after that it was essentially shut down. Not saying to completely abandon it but if there was one area of Bama's D to try and exploit it was the secondary. 23 passes just doesn't cut it. After UGA, I think the prevailing attitude should have been, we're just going to have to get into track meets with teams and hope that it is enough. Beginning with UF, we started playing offense as if we had a good defense, which was fool's gold because of UF's shitty offense. That's one thing about A&M...they recognize they have a shitty defense so they play offense accordingly.

We haven't had any major coaching issues IMO in any of our losses unless we are talking about debatable personnel opinions of the defense.

UGA:
UGA had a legit offense before injury. Our defense has been average all year. Also OBJ fumbles a punt return and UGA's kicker has phenomenal range.

Ole Miss:
Mettenberger basically killed three drives on just horrible decision making. Again our defense is not good.

Bama:
Great call giving it to the FB who has ran the ball plenty enough to know to secure the ball.
Horrible communication error on the fumbled snap by Mettenberger.
Again defense isn't that good; however, if we eliminate that 10 pt swing it would have probably been a completely different game if we had a 10 point lead after our first possession of the second half.

We lost too many young experiences players last season on defense. The other guys just aren't there yet. We have had some bad errors by some offensive players that we couldn't afford with our current defense and being on the road.

Our fan base loves to pile on Miles.

Tend to agree. The fake punt seemed obvious at the time, even before the time out was called. Perhaps coaches overlooked that?

Not playing safe to guard against a fake punt on Bama's 4th and short at midfield in the 3rd quarter with score tied at 17. After the time out to preserve the 4th and short, I even saw it coming and I'm not qualified to coach pee wee FB. Gary Danielson saw it coming. LSU coaches did not.

Bama's conversion for 1st down ended up as the turning point in the game after which Bama never looked back.

I'd call that a pretty big coaching error.

Systemic issues with tackling is a coaching issue.

Continual confusion in the defensive backfield is coaching.

Not being prepared for the fake punt is a coaching error. It wasn't like Bama just got it.

Running Hill 3 times in the second half was coaching errors.

refusing to adjust is coaching errors.

Plenty of errors were made last night, but they were all small errors that added up and not one big blunder like stupid fake FGs, not using a TO, or wasting TOs.

In the end, it was a well coached game on offense for 2 quarters and on defense for 1 quarter by LSU.

Coaching is your answer. LSU I line has regressed

Now compare that to a bama oline that gave up sack like hot cakes and now dominates trenches.

Follow up question: when is the last time you saw an LSU team finish a season, general performance wise, stronger than it started?

Not adjusting to Bama continually shutting down Beckham was an error

Les has coached and won a lot more games than I.

However, right after Copeland fumbled, my first random thought was: why did we pick now, at this crucial moment, in the most crucial game of the year, to get our FB his first carry in almost a month?
