The highlights are up on lsusports.net. In the highlights Mickey looked really impressive (athletic, moves well w/o the ball, nice all around game). Martin looked polished. The team looks very athletic, poised and fluid.

I understand Xavier is an inferior team but LSU absolutely dominated them. Can't wait to see how this team looks against UMass on the road.

LSU is going to make a statement tuesday. I'm calling in sick

I think we're going to make some noise in the old spice tourney too.

If Andre stays hot from three point land, we're going to be tough.

Only in the highlights. He actually made a lot of mistakes last night, but he showed glimpses of greatness.

We're going to need him to stay that way. I'm worried about our 3-point shooting.

Was only able to get text updates from friends at the game, but it sounds like we looked good. I'm ready for this season to frickin start already!

Great job SoS.
I wish you could write articles for The Advocate instead of the overly verbose (to the point of confusing) Matthew Harris.
I know there are some threads dedicated to how awful Harris' writing is, but I'm going to complain here!
Last season I posted about my annoyance with his reports on the team.
Apart from the verbosity, he was extremely negative most of the time - and inaccurate about players' moods etc. He had poor insights.
I know the team had several bad games that deserved a negative response, but he carried that theme through most of the season.
He wasn't controversial, which would be more entertaining. Just disparaging.

Send your resume to the Advocate!

I just read his article. Wat.

Who decided that article should be published? Did not flow at all.

Nothing substantial. Mostly just wear and tear. Practices have been very physical and if it was a real game, Coleman would have played.

Not being negative but people are talking about Odo killing it on the boards, well he should have as Xavier only had one guy listed at 6"8.Lsu as a team only had 3 more boards than Xavier.

Odo was a bright spot in our rebounding. The main reason we struggled with rebounds were we had too many people trying to block shots, and too many air balls. Both of those lead to being out of position for the defense.

Odo was able to spot the ball and attack it very well. It's more than just size, he has that 6th sense where he locates the ball.

He was also very aggressive going after the ball. Due to our depth, he was also able to be much fresher than the guys going up for the ball.

I don't care if they were playing a HS team, they look like they have the making of a really good team.

They could run into some trouble when Stringer or Morgan can't hit from the outside.
But, the ceiling for this team is very high.
If this team can consistently make outside shots, this team will be straight up scary.
We simply cause a ton of matchup problems for almost any team. And we have depth is a guy like JOB does get into trouble.

I do expect some of our freshman to go through learning curves, but come SEC time saddle up because it's going to be a ride straight to the Big Dance and beyond.
