To put his Indiana tenure in perspective. He was fired at Indiana in 2001. He won five more Big Ten games during his tenure than any other IU coach has one since.

In 1999, he lost to Michigan, 34-31, when Brady drove the length of the field to beat them. They lost to Drew Brees's Purdue team that same year, 30-24. The next year they lost to Philip Rivers and N.C. State on a late touchdown.

The year he was fired they won at Wisconsin, 63-32, put up 489 yards rushing in a win at Michigan State, and also beat Northwestern and Purdue.

I wouldn't just look at his IU career and dismiss him. Also, let's not forget that he was hired at IU at 36-year-old. He was just a kid.

At Miami he was working with John Beck and Cleo Lemon. His running backs for the majority of the season were Jesse Chatman and Patrick Cobbs. Nobody was winning with that roster.

I too think Cam may best be suited to be a coordinator but he's smart, articulate, and I believe a lot tougher now than he was even in Miami. Someone in CFB will give him a shot at some point.
