re: Waterproof/resistant pants

this may just be a pet peeve of mine but i hate seeing "waterproof" and "water resistant" together

they are completely different

a water resistant soft shell jacket is not at all like a waterproof rain jacket or ski jacket, same for gloves, same for pants, same for shoes

so you either want water resistant or waterproof and the depends on the use, if just for walking to and from car in the rain, water resistant may be fine, if you'll be outside in the rain for anything more than a short period then you want water proof

i've been doing a lot of research on gear for an upcoming trek and sometimes they aren't descriptive enough, that's why i'm bitching
