Bow Peep Question

Yesterday evening I let a nice sized older doe walk. It was just before dusk, and even though I could see her fine with my naked eye, I could not find her through my peep. It was a perfect broadside shot and she was oblivious to me being there.
I could have shot without using my peep, but I'm not confident enough in my aim to do so as I don't practice doing that. This is only my second season bow hunting and I'm still learning. Is there a peep available that allows a better line of sight through it? I know nothing about it. I just went with the one the guy at the bow shop put on it when I purchased the bow.
TIA

I don't have the answer to your question, however, wanted to commend you for not taking a risky shot. You made the right choice.

That can be frustrating. I went to a no-peep system years ago because of similar problems, but never could master it. I'm back to a peep, but use a bigger one. So, if you can master the no-peep that is the way to go.

The biggest help will be to use a 5/16 peep. One that large is plenty accurate for a hunting bow and will work much better in low light conditions.

Bigger peep (That's what she said).
We used to just drill them out to whatever size we wanted. We'd start with one like the one on the left, and end up with something like on the right.
We just used a bit and did it by hand while still in the string.

Shoot with both eyes open and you can acquire your target much easier

I could not find her through my peep
So, not only am I not limited to peep light, I have eliminated additional weight on my string.
