The "problems" they were causing are listed in the article.

1. They eat native fish
2. They eat ducklings
3. They're pose a threat to humans with their bite

If they aren't native to the area I see why they want to take them out.

Nutria
Popcorn trees
Fire ants

Although none of those are as tasty.
