I realize it is just a game, but being an LSU alumni I obviously have emotion invested in the game. Like everyone else that is an LSU fan I want them to succeed, but there are disturbing trends that keep popping up. Are they pervasive trends? No they are not, but they do pop their head up from time to time and it continues to cost us important games that change the dynamics of the season.

1. Clock management which the subject has been beat to death especially on this board so I won't elaborate to much other than to say. If there was a class on poor clock management taught to the coaching world, they would use Miles book as the teaching guide for the class. And that looks like it will never change.

2. Not having the players ready to play both mentally and physically for each and every game. I realize that is a tough chore to accomplish but news flash for you, that is why you get paid $4 million a year because it is a tough job. And when you get paid that much you are expected to perform at your top level week in, week out no matter how tough it is. You can look back at the last 8 years and literally pick out 2 games a season where the players weren't better prepared both mentally and physically for the team they were playing and they got beat by an inferior team so far this year Ole Piss is the team and last year you don't have to go past Clemson to see the example. The blame lies squarely on the coaches and I was glad to see Miles stand up to his mistakes and own them, but that is only half the battle the other half is to make sure that doesn't happen again. Unfortunately after the past 8 years I don't have a lot of confidence that will change going forward.

3. Our swagger on defense seems to be lost, it was lost in the Clemson game and seems to be lost big-time so far this year. I wish Chavis would bring back the swagger anyway he has too.

Hopefully the venting helps me get over the depression, but again something tells me this will be like the 2011 championship game, it is going to take awhile.

LSU football is not a professional sports organization. The players are amateurs. The LSU football administrators are not professional football people.

Sure, the LSU coaches are paid, but, have they demonstrated or articulated a hard-core, professional and DRIVEN desire to do whatever it takes to win the "Superbowl" every year? I have not seen this, nor am I aware of Coach Miles ever making a statement to that effect.

So, I conclude that, in the eyes of those who control the program, LSU football is fine, LSU footbal is doing fine, and, everything will work out fine -- according to their standards for success.

If the LSU powers-that-be are content, why shouldn't you and I also be content?

I was depressed when my grandparents died. This football shite is small potatoes in the grand scheme of things. Get over it.

You have every right to be sullen. Our team choked away a shot at the SEC championship against Ole Miss scrubs. It's a disappointing development.

Barring a miracle loss by Bama, we now have to wait another entire year to contend for the SEC.

No longer depressed and moving forward. Reading the meltdowns on the Rant really helps.

Agreed on the "lingering effect." Seems to me these kids read their press clippings and watch the sports channels just like we do. All week long all you heard was LSU is the best one loss team in the country and Mett is a top 10 pick in NFL draft and Ole Miss has no starters healthy on defense to stop LSU. Well....

LSU stopped themselves and Mett looked like a rookie again in the 1st half. LSU's offense came to life in the 2nd half but the defense once again could not stop the other team on their last drive of the game. That's been a disturbing trend in all our recent losses.

This game was really weird b/c when LSU did come back (and we knew they would) they appeared to have all the momentum only to have Ole Miss make as good a drive as they have had in the past 10 years of football. Good for them. Moving on....

You must be a lot of fun to be around. There are plenty of things in life to be depressed about and I promise you a loss to Ole Miss isn't one of them. This will not be the last time LSU loses a game we should have won.

1973. Little kid growing up in New Orleans. Big LSU fan. Tulane 14, LSU 0. Life at school was a living hell. The world didn't end.

1981. Student at LSU. Tulane 48, LSU 7. The world didn't end.

1982. Flying high and ready for revenge, fresh off destruction of Florida State, and Orange Bowl bound. Tulane 31, LSU 28. The world almost ended, but eventually didn't.

It will be OK.
