Why does Les need his hand held on the sideline when it comes to timeouts?

Tennessee 05. LSU intercepts a pass late in the game. There are only a few seconds left and Les tries to call a timeout after the change of possession before being pulled away by another coach.

Ole Miss 2009. Les lets 20 seconds run off the clock after a 3rd down loss leaving only 9 seconds left for a Hail Mary and 1 second to spike it. After the game a policeman mentions something about a timeout and Les sticks his head in the air and flaps his lips about a timeout. Les thought maybe we had one left and forgot to call it.

Ole Miss 2013. Les lets 20 seconds run off the clock while he tries to decide what to do. Then he calls one with 6 seconds left.. Screwing up icing the kicker which is what he decided on doing.

These are only three of the dumbest ones.

Sometimes the tail wags the dog.

He approaches the game as a fan as much as a coach. Gets caught up in the "game" and loses attention to detail and focus. Would love to watch a game with him while kicking back a good whiskey. Would be a blast.

you left out auburn in 07. he called time out right after lsu was stopped on 3rd down with 36 seconds left in the 1st half. so he called time out to give auburn a chance to get a couple plays in instead of running out the clock.

I swear I'm not trying to be funny when I say this -

I wouldn't mind him getting completely shite faced on whiskey before a game and see how it goes. Hell, maybe even try it this weekend against that high school team coming to town. At least it would be a much different game plan and the coordinators would likely have most of the control by the 4th quarter.

Come on guys, it's not like Les had to burn a timeout following a change of possession on a punt, or it's not like we burnt a timeout on the first possession of the game while moving the ball down field.

Yes, you should worship Miles, not bash him. Just because he makes $4 mil per, is no reason to expect more out of him.

LSU will win 80% of their games. Don't expect more, and don't ever expect to beat Bama.

My favorite was the Arkansas game one year when LSU hurried down the field with three timeouts only to hurry a FG attempt from somewhere in Mississippi. Someone posted an ad in Craigslist selling Les Miles 3 unused timeouts the next day, and it was hilarious.

Multiple times Les has called timeouts to stop the clock at the end of the half trying to get the ball back when LSU didn't have enough timeouts to get the ball back. All it did was let the other team run more plays.

That Auburn game was an example of the other end of the spectrum of end of 1st half screw ups.

He's to busy recruiting top recruits.
He's busy having a winning program.
He's to busy thinking about winning a damn bowl game.
He's to busy keeping LSU relevant.
He sucks at time management.

It is insane for a head coach of an elite team to have this quality.

Is it time to turn "time management" over to one of the assistant coaches?

That drive was an abortion, too. LSU got the ball around midfield and didn't do anything.
