You are dead wrong! Saban restored Lsu to an elite program. Built the cox center for athletes, hired a highschool coach as a liason to help recruiting. Saban made Lsu a top 3 program. Miles came in to a great situation and has completely f d it up!

Saban said without #1 recruiting class every year he is an average coach. That is why he said he can not win in NFL.

Most of these posts are hilarious. We can bitch and moan about how Saban is so much better than Miles, but what good does that do anyone?!
Is Saban coming back to LSU??? NO! So, why even waste your time crying about it? MOVE THE HELL ON!
I don't give a rats arse what Nick Saban does at Alabama. I'm an LSU fan.
If you stack the numbers of both coaches up from their time AT LSU, Miles wins. Now does that mean he is a better coach than Nick Saban? No! And I don't think most of the "Pro-Miles" fans would try to tell you that he is.
However, they will tell you, and rightfully so, that no one has had more success, at LSU than Les Miles.

So you don't care about being the best?

LSU is #1 in my mind.

"Dubose, Franchione and Shula all won 10 games in a season at Bama"
If you think these guy's records are comparable to Saban's at Bama, then I don't know what to say. But it may be why you think Miles is comparable to Saban.
You missed my point. Those guys clearly weren't as good as Saban. But if they were at LSU they wouldn't have won 10 games in a season either. In fact, I'm not sure Shula or Dubose ever would have had a winning season at LSU.
So, my point is that, in general, coaches at Bama over-perform against their abilities. Put a great coach there like Saban, and he becomes legendary. Look at Gene Stallings. He was a failure at aTm & the NFL, but he goes to Bama and wins a MNC in 3 years.
I can't explain it, but it is what it is.

Miles is a damn fine recruiter. Would he have won 3 of 4 NCs at Bama if he and Saban had switched places in 2008?

Is he? I think LSU recruits itself. State loaded with talent and we have top 5 facilities.

OK, then explain why you disagree.
Your conclusions involve too much speculation. That's why I disagree.
I think we both agree that Nick Saban has improved as a head coach since 2005, if only because his head is clearer and he's more focused on his college game, rather than being distracted by interest in the NFL.
I'm not going to comment on Coach Miles in this post, because, I have already praised him and pointed out his weaknesses in earlier posts. I've also stated previously that he is good for LSU, because LSU is not likely to muster the skill set that would be needed to find a better head coach.
So, as I have said before, Coach Miles is the best that LSU can do, and he's going to be at LSU forever. I'd guess that Coach Miles knows that this is the best job he could possibly hope for.

It does not, trust me.
Mack Brown always thought Texas recruited itself, so he started getting lazy. You see how that worked out for him recently.

How can people even remotely still be comparing Miles to Saban at this point?

A young coach at LSU would be a great recruiter. This isn't the same LSU as it was in the 90's when Miami, Michigan, Nebraska, etc would come take who they wanted.

I know...therefore schools do not recruit themselves

I live in North Al. u guy's don't realize that Saban is a god in this state. He will retire here because they already built him a statue & he isn't dead yet.

You underestimate the power of $$$. History/tradition is overrated.
