I came across a Presonus Firebox (not firestudio mobile) on eBay for around $50 recently. If you've got a FireWire port, I recommend it. Otherwise, their audiobox is a USB interface that is relatively cheap but useful for this kind of thing as well.

I have a line6 UX2 which I never used until recently. It was really more than I needed because I wanted a simple USB interface for my guitar. Plus, when I bought it, Line6 was struggling with the Mac driver. It was more trouble that it was worth so I bought a much simpler interface to use with Garageband.
Later, I went to buy some Alesis monitor speakers that were on sale and I wanted to get the ones with a USB port, but I accidentally bought the analog speakers. I hooked it up to my UX2 and it works beautifully as an output interface.
