Spinoff: LSU will be screwed under the "playoff" system

Espn radio guys think a 1 loss LSU would be the only team to jump Ohio St.

I can't wait for the playoff system. Then it'll be LSU/Bama NC games for the next 5 years and people will cry to go back to the BCS.
Hahahaha. What a joke. You people who wanted a playoff are in for a rude awakening.
The committee will determine the top 4 teams. They aren't bound by any poll, or ranking; they won't need to account for how they evaluated strength of schedule. They have carte blanche to do whatever they want.
The whole purpose of the playoff is to PREVENT Sec schools from dominating like they did under the fair and dispassionate computers of the BCS. You're going to see a return to people in love with tOSU, Michigan, ND, USC, etc. picking them as the top 4 in the country if they have a pulse at season's end. I can guarantee you there will NEVER be an acknowledgement that two SEC schools are in the top 4 and both make the playoff.
This committee is even worse than the old-old system of the AP selecting the champ. At least there were so many sportswriters that all schools had a chance of their quality being recognized. This playoff system will accomplish nothing other than shifting the controversy from "who should be #2?" to "who should have been #4?"
Because LSU is not a media darling, and certainly not a favorite of any of the committee members, will have to be undefeated (not even one loss) to even sniff a championship under the playoff system.

You're right there will be no accountability at all. They have already said they are going to publish weekly rankings at least 4-5 times during the regular season.

I somewhat agree with this. It really could screw the 2nd best SEC team...badly. But, each year will be different, fwiw.

it'll be like 2011 every yr. beat bama in reg season, they'll show up in playoff.
can't wait.
can't wait.

Some of this is right. Some is wrong.

This is correct.

This is wrong.
When Bama inevitably fails again to win the SECW, if they have one loss, they will get the media darling treatment just as 2011. Bama and maybe UF will be the ONLY SEC schools that will be allowed in the playoff without having to win the SEC.

Nope. LSU's criteria will be:
1) Win the SEC
2) Have less than two losses
It will have to be a combo of both of those.

how much money are you willing to lay on this? I'll take the bet.

Only one SEC team should be in and it should be the Champion, assuming they have a comparable record to the other 3 invitees.

Quoting to save for future reference.

Expect to see 11-1, and maybe even 10-2 Big Ten, Pac 12, or ACC champs in the Final Four over a 11-1 SEC non-champion.

This is also correct.
And SOS will mean nothing.

Really? Wow, did not know this. I withdraw my post, because this surely means that they will be fair and objective at the end.
BTW, they do know that the season is longer than 4-5 weeks, right?

Are you kidding me?
The consensus 4 best teams should make it, regardless of conference.

What the hell does that have to with anything? The BCS comes out at midseason (as should all the polls) right now anyway.

This line of thinking is absurd. LSU is constantly being picked for national games and constantly pulls in good to great ratings. And the national media really like the Tigers. LSU gets tons of props from the media and not to mention, so does Miles.

When there is change it always concerns people which is understandable. I personally feel that the committee will want to get this thing right in order to expand this to an 8 team playoff. As much as people fear this working against the SEC or LSU for that matter, I don't think you will see that. In fact I truly feel that no one will be strong armed and if an SEC or LSU is the number 4 team in the country doesn't matter who #'s 1-3 are they will get the bid.

remind again what team went from #7 to #2 the last week of the season and made the BCS CG with 2 loses?
They stated a year ago the comm will look at things like SOS and give credence to winning a conference. so what you'll see is more like a 2 loss Oregon team in 2011 getting in over 1 loss Stanford because Oregon won thei conference and had an extra loss because they played LSU. Or in 2012 2 loss Stanford getting in over 1 loss Oregon for the same reason, only substitute Notre Dame for LSU.
