I just find him very unlikeable. That worked very well for the character in American Psycho (and, to be honest, from an acting standpoint, he'll likely be remembered for Empire of the Sun and AP). I think, from a business standpoint, he could make a good run "turning heel" from here on, and filling the gap by the aging of Gary Oldman, Alan Rickman, etc., and being the talented actor brought in to be the formidable bad guy. His unlikeableness would be a factor there.

he's a huge douchebag in real life, apparently

the whole freakout he had on set, plus natalie portman, who is a class act, talked all that shite about him
