It's all this packaged electro/hip-hop/Miley Cyrus shite that all sounds exactly the same now. I mean that was around then too (Britney Spears and that whole scene) but it seemed like some real music still made it onto the FM airwaves back then There is zero of that sort of thing going on anymore. You're either all that Katy Perry/ Lady Gaga/ whatever shit, or you're on the college station like 91.1. There is no crossover anymore.
I blame illegal downloading honestly. That and this younger generation being even fricking stupider than we were.
Nah... it's because most radio stations are owned by three or four companies.
The late 90s were the death throes of independently owned (or, at least, non-megacorp owned) stations.
