Stephen Thomas Erlewine has a great review of a complitaion that includes both All Star and Steal My Sunshine

quote:

First off, there's Smash Mouth's "All Star," which may have been whored out to every commercial and movie between 1999 and 2001, but it's undeniably a well-crafted guilty pleasure, one that soars beyond its era. Then, there's LEN's "Steal My Sunshine," as perfect as songs get. This sun-kissed, sun-bleached blend of hip-hop, pop, disco, post-Beastie Boys cleverness, and California culture is a priceless, timeless confection that instantly calls up sweltering, shimmering beaches the second the looped keyboard plays. It's a monumentally great single, showing up everything else on this record on how good effervescent pop can be -- "Steal My Sunshine" shows that mainstream pop can truly be transcendent.

Gorillaz - Clint Eastwood

I remember getting ready for school in like 7th grade and having MTV on in my room and this song coming on and being just totally blown away by how crazy the video was and how catchy the beat was. Then I went to school and told everybody about it and nobody knew the frick I was talking about (i dunno, it was like rap with animated zombie monkeys...) . :csb: i know, but it was just one of those really distinct memories from my youth.

To this day it's still one of my favorite songs ever

Marcy Playground - Sex and Candy

Funny story about this one. This fat kid in my third grade class brought it in for show and tell and played it at a boombox. This was at a Nazi Catholic elementary school and he got suspended

"Steal my Sunshine" is amazing, glad to see it getting love. Also loved that someone posted "Return of the Mack". Other good ones have been posted as well.

Time for a few of mine, I love this shite:

Sugar Ray - Every Morning
Sugar Ray - When It's Over
Lifehouse - "Hanging by a Moment"
Smile Empty Soul - "Bottom of a Bottle"
System of a Down - "Aerials"
Limp Bizkit - "My Way"

Will totally post others later, but I'll give other people a chance to post some more.
