Sometimes I take Burbank, sometimes River Rd. This time I opted for the latter. Turned on Bluebonnet and probably 4 miles from campus, hit a wall. I sat there for 2 hours. People started driving on the levee. State troopers would stop them a ways down, and then make them go to the end of the line. After awhile, people just started turning around and leaving.

The Levee lots and Hayfield both said "FULL". Finally people just looked like they were about to riot and start fighting cops, so they'd let them drive in but told them they wouldn't find anything. I turned in and parked in one of the spots. There were a bunch available.

The police running parking are inept, the plan getting people onto campus is a mess, and everyone in charge of this should be fired.

Everybody bitching about a half empty stadium has their heads up their asses. It was a joke getting out there. I was about to just turn around and go drink at L'auberge and sell my tix walking through the casino. fricking bullshite. Yes. Mad.

More of the same mindless bs that we've come to love on TD. Congrats.

From the posters here and from people that came to the tailgate it is readily apparent that the cops are as bad at parking direction as they are at doing anything other than inspection sticker checkpoints.

Stupid and rude is the common theme I've heard since Saturday morning.

yeah it does appear that the cops are a big part of the problem.

That was the majority of the river road issue, the levee lots were only maybe at 70% capacity, but they blocked the entrances. Not sure why they starting putting guards at those entrances, let fans turn in their if they want to try to find a spot, more cars would get parked and more get off river road.

They block off the $40 lots when there are still spots available.

They don't close the lots when they are full they close them at a certain time before the game... They have been doing this for years at Kirby Smith even though they would still be tons of parking before they closed the band field and now the new dorm construction.

BTW...I sat in stadium club Saturday. ... Great part bout that is instead of being forced to sit besides a mad, sweating troll pig such as you I can sit comfortably in the ac and drink beer... For 3-4 hours. It's great.

Stadium club? Is that what you call your trailer on game day?

I left my house at 9:45 in Dehnam, parked behind the AgCenter in the free lot at 10:30.

The problem is people thinking there will be parking available everywhere 2 hours before the game.

The other problem is that the game is at 2:30. I bet if the game was at 7, this wouldn't be a problem, b/c you have people arriving on campus all day, instead of about 75% of the people arriving in a 2 hour window

I gotta wonder, if you live less than three miles from the stadium, why wouldn't you walk?

(If you're too unhealthy to walk a couple miles, that's your problem, not LSU Parking's.)

That makes no sense and i'm going to need more clarification on that.

Can someone please post a map of the Parking Lots again? I saw this during the week leading up to the game.

I came from the West across the Bridge. I arrived at the approach to the Bridge at 10:30 and it took me 2 hours to get parked after coming across the Bridge, exiting Nicholson and doing some cross street driving near River Rd.

Anyone with good suggestions for this in the future assuming I will be at the Bridge approach 4 hours before gametime and don't mind walking half mile or so to the stadium?

It's true. The problem is they don't turn people around or redirect them soon enough.

And let me guess...you are virtually never caught in a traffic stand-still. What an interesting idea.

Not sure about that.. the levee lots were "full" is their claim.. Funny you mention Kirby Smith, after 2hrs in traffic on river road, I passed the levee lots, vet school, turned on roosevelt and got in Kirby Smith and parked within 3 minutes.. (actually one entrance of Kirby Smith is never blocked off, that is always my go to spot, but I was on the opposite side of town for soccer saturday morning so I tried river road, never again)

I assume it is difficult to track how many spots are still available within the $40 perimeter. Maybe they are just told by LSU event management ahead of time when to shut down the permit parking, what time to close certain lots, etc?

yep.
Gotta be a little careful driving home in dark with drunk drivers, but even being super careful and defensive, I still fly by traffic.
My folks now come to my house to park and ride their bikes as well. Not a bad deal, except you can't carry a big canopy and tailgating stuff on a bike. You can, however, carry a fith of crown.
