How will that help with the oil filter?
I take the skid plates off for the crankcase and it goes great.
When the oil filter comes off, the splatterfest starts
It's really not all that bad. I could easily make a little pan funnel and avoid all the mess if I wasn't a lazy arse.

Buy a can of brake cleaner or punch a hole in the filter first and let it drain while you draij the crankcase.
Thats how i do it on those trucks.
I put a remote filter on my 98

I had a 94 z71...basically the same...
buy a box of Gallon Ziploc Freezer bags...
let truck cool down...
break filter loose, but not enough to let oil leak...
place bag over filter...
Remove filter with bag over it and let drop into bag...
that is the best I could do without making a pan funnel like the oil change places use...
