I've always thought the answer was pretty simple.

Do a PSA with a current, respected football player saying how much the band and crowd pump them up. He then asks the crowd to support the team and the band by refraining from using profanities during the songs.

That puts the students in an awkward spot of supporting the team or being selfish and self indulgent. Not sure how it would turn out but worth a shot.

Good idea.

Another, we need to have a set of clean lyrics for each song. That way, the rest of us can drown out the student section (as when most of us cheer "L-S-U" and not "kick their a--" on 1st down).

With Neck, for example, nobody knows "talking outside of the neck". So everyone stays silent while the students cheer STTDB. So, instead of STTD, we could all sing "let's go tigers win" or something more clever.
