I would think Cane's, Circle K or another nearby business would have security cameras that could help.

Even the girl who tweeted @LSUcheckpoint has not responded to Matt's girlfriend's request for contact.

Someone who saw him down and did not call 911?
If I were a cop, I'd be contacting her on the quickness. My first hunch is that she was in the car (as a passenger) was convinced not call the cops, so figured twitter to @LSUcheckpoint would rid her of guilt. Probably intended to protect driver. Anyway, that's big lead.

This case is being investigated by the Baton Rouge Police Department.
Don't know why this was in the article, but hopefully they do a decent job.Unfortunately in my dealings with them, they just shrugged most things off without investigations like they didn't have time for it. Would've felt much better if it was LSP.

Is enough information out there to make an arrest yet? I don't want it to become like the Mickey S case with all of the info coming out first on TD, but did anyone get the plate #?

I just RA'd for a sticky. Hopefully people take a break from schoolwork and check out TD when they do

According to a 2006 report by WAFB's Julie Baxter, Baton Rouge has over 300 hit and run accidents per month - per month! That is at least 10 per day. Is anyone, other than me, shocked by these statistics?

Probably has parking lot dents, dings, and bumper scrapes tied up into that.

And 299 of them (or more) are auto to auto and most of those are parking lot dings that are recorded for insurance purposes. I've had to file two.

Wow, every single thing I post lately gets deleted. My opinion must not have been in line with that of the admins.

This post won't last long either

re: ..

My point with bringing that statistic to light is that people in Baton Rouge hear about hit and run, etc. situations all the time.

Huh? I've heard of two in the last two years. The last one was the guy that got hit on Alvin Dark after a football game last season.

I've never met your friend but we have some mutual friends. I want him to get better and hope the perp gets caught but I think your frustration is a little misguided.

When a person gets hurt in a hit and run, it's a terrible crime that gets news coverage. If you search WBRZ articles tagged "hit and run," it comes out to 1 or 2 a month where people suffer injuries. It's not limited to Baton Rouge either.

On a brighter note, the family did a great job today spreading the word about this incident. Got a lead from this board, media coverage, Crimestoppers, offered a reward, made a FB page. Tons more people know about this while it is still fresh because of the efforts.

(Golfer, reply was for the OP)

I wasn't aware that Carmax rented cars out. I thought they just sold them. I think there is only one in SELA, and that is the one on Seigen. You need to get a metal tag within 1 or 3 months I think. Shouldn't be hard to figure out who bought a white Sentra once the witnesses look at a lineup of the different model years.

Maybe the problem is that they could be closed on Sundays
