Public land I carry alot of shite. But I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

headlamp with extra batteries
extra mini maglite
gps
compass
lighter and matches
wyoming saw
rubber gloves
whistle
bulllets
bug dope
rope/deer drag
snack and water

I once got invited on a deer hunt in Alabama just south of Montgomery. Hunted private land with really nice ladder stands and shooting houses. I carried my day pack, the other 2 guys just carried their guns. Hell I don't even think they had knives on them. They were making fun of me because I had everything. But these guys had no idea what public land swamp hunting is all about. They'd be lost in the swamp.
