You are confusing your LHSAA rules with laws. I don't care about your rules. My job is enforce the laws and protect everyone at the game. In no way is a ref ever gonna tell me how to do my job. But I also am a professional at my job and would never put myself in this officers position.
with all due respect, you are the one confused here. there was no law being broken, it was not a criminal situation, it was a game jurisdiction situation and the officials are there to manage the game, the LEO are there to manage the crowd.
the officials have jurisdiction over the game unless a law is being broken. In this case, the cop was protecting unauthorized spectators who had no business on the sideline. He was not doing his job, he was there in uniform acting as a fan. The official has every right to ask the LEO to move anyone and everyone from the field of play. The LEO has no right to deny that request and when he got confrontational he threw his professional responsibility and oath out the window and became just another dad. Albeit a dad with a badge and a gun and an over inflated sense of self worth.

The officer maybe paid by the school as security, but as soon as he takes law enforcement action he reverts back to a police officer under his PDs jurisdiction
he took "law enforcement action" when he was embarrassed by the officials and wanted to show his buddies who was in charge. There was no need to take "law enforcement action" because he was in the wrong. There was no law being broken, he made up a reason to remove the officials from the field of play because he resented the fact that they were trying to make him do something he didnt want to do. However he was being paid by the school to do just that. He confused his status as a buddy/fan/dad with his status as a paid security guard and sworn LEO. And now he has been humiliated by the media, the mayor and the new chief.

I fully understand what you are saying, but LEO's don't have to follow LSHAA rules or in my case MHSAA. We follow the rules of our department and the Laws of the city, parish in your case, and state. The refs do not have any authority over us. In some cases the school has authority over th officers because they have their own Police Department such as Moss Point and Biloxi School Districts.
Does that mean we aren't working together to creat a good enviroment for the players and spectators? No, it just means that LEO's aren't guided by the rules of LHSAAA. In this case, the officer saw what he thought was a violation of the law and acted. Was he right? Either he was dead wrong or the city bowed down to LHSAA. I don't know the full story so I won't speculate on that part.
