Why? Started to build a good program, then stepped down as coach, then bolted for "Greener" pastures.
This started the 3 stooges reign of Archer, Curley, and DiNardo that became the decade of hell for LSU football.
How 'bout we kick him in the nuts instead.

I've had hemorrhoids that lasted longer than he did at LSU.
The only recognition he should get is whenever they recognized the 86 SEC Title team, he should be one of the people.

He left us with Archer and went to Florida and hired spurrier.

There was no love lost when Bill left. He didn't like LSU and the administration and felt the athletic department was poorly run. He has a few valid points, but all in all do not expect "Uncle Bill Day" coming to a game anytime soon.
I would rather see Gerry DiNardo get recognized, or better yet....how about KEVIN FAULK APPRECIATION DAY

He did LSU dirty when he left, pushed for Archer to be his replacement so he could hire Spurrier at uf. He was a great coach and could've done great things at LSU but he chose the easy route, I doubt he is ever recognized individually, he may get a shout out for the 86 team but nothing individual.

DiNardo may be the only coach in the history of LSU that left on the heels of crappy seasons, and/or made some really stupid hires (Tepper), but it still at least somewhat beloved by the fans.
I fall into this category. I like the guy, and when I think about him, I tend to remember the good times, as opposed to the time his defense made Quincy Carter look like Joe Montana.
I'm going to start a new thread about this. I want to see if I'm in the minority on this one.

sheet, the rain of boos from the older crowd would be epic.
that being said, I'm surprised mike archer ever comes back either.

arnsparger was a damn good coach but he was an a-hole, esp over LSU not hiring him as AD. he tryed to push it down the board's throat and they told him to shove it.

Wha...?
He was outscored 32-79 in losing all three bowl games he coached LSU in - and yes, that includes a 21-7 loss to Baylor.
(Let us not mention the loss to M of O)

Arnsparger
Just as Dinardo set the stage for LSU's re-emergence - Arnsparger set the stage for LSU's decade+ decline.
He was a solid, if unspectacular, coach, who lost 3 straight bowl games. I bear him no ill will, but what is particularly "honorable" about a coach who goes 26-8-2? He did break LSU's SEC Championship drought, but I think that's hardly worth a Bill Arnsparger day, statue, street, building, etc. type honorific.
Just my $0.02.
